Ann Kenna is a published memoirist, essayist, and performance poet whose work has appeared in Newsday, South Shore Magazine, and numerous online publications and anthologies. Her essay "King Murphy" was featured in Chicken Soup for the Cat Lover's Soul and spotlighted on CBS affiliate WUSA's Great Day Washington in a segment about rescued pets and the American Humane Association.
She recently dropped her beach chair on the sun-soaked shores of Southwest Florida. Immersing herself in the snowbird culture of Marco Island, she caught rare glimpses of old-moneyed senior citizens in their high-end beachfront condos. Venturing further south into the enigmatic Everglades—the end of the road where exotic predators flourish—she found a wellspring of inspiration in Florida's rich tapestry of personal stories and unique, humorous situations.
With a career in elementary special education that sharpened her observational skills, Ann is ever alert for the next awe-inspiring moment or near catastrophe.
These qualities, combined with over thirty years of writing experience and the captivating allure of the Everglades, propelled her to create her debut novel, FLORIDA KILLS.
